Holiday Nuts

This is Christmas favorite around our house.  It's pretty simple to make and makes the house smell wonderful.  Here's the recipe:

1 egg white
1/2 tsp. water
1/8 tsp. almond extract

Beat the above ingredients until foamy.

Mix in 3 cups of almonds OR pecans.

In another bowl, combine:
1/2 cup sugar
1 Tbsp sugar
1/4 tsp. salt

Add to almond mixture.
Mix well.

Pour on greased pan and bake at 225 degrees for 60-90 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes.

Almonds

Pecans

They're better than the ones they sell at the mall and cheaper too!  They make a great gift, just package them up in a cute little bag or box.

Thanks for visiting! :)

  1. YUM! I love these from the store but I have never tried to make them at home. I had a question about the recipe (cause I want to make them!) You said 1/2 cup of sugar, and then 1 tablespoon of sugar. Is that a typo? Thanks for linking up again!!!

  2. Haha, no it's not a typo. I thought the same thing when my friend gave me the recipe. It actaully calls for 9 Tablespoons of sugar (which is the same as 1/2 cup and 1 Tbsp.) I think she knows that I tend to lose count when I am baking, so she tried to make it easier on me. It does look a little confusing though :)

Thanks for hosting the link party!

  3. If you were going to sell these in 8oz. bags what would you charge for them? This would be a great idea for a Christmas Craft Show.
