Personalized Water Bottles

I coach middle school cheerleaders and like to make my girls something each season.

During football cheer I made these Cheer Frames for my girls.

For the girls basketball cheer season, I made these Water Bottles.
The girls really liked them, but they were plastic and a couple of girls dropped them throughout the season and broke them.  They were only a dollar, but I was a little disappointed and knew I would need something more durable for next time.

We are now in our last season, which is boys basketball.  I wanted to do the water bottle thing again, because several students had requested to get one.

While browsing at Dollar Tree one day, I found these beauties.
They are aluminum and were only $1.00 each!

I used my Cricut, SCAL, and white contact paper.
(Money Saver Tip:  White contact paper works just as well as white vinyl and is a ton cheaper!)

I put each girl's name on them in different fonts.

On one side is the name...

...and on the other side is a megaphone.
(Cricut cartridge:  Locker Talk)

I have a few more to make, but I ran out of water bottles.
So, I am praying that I can find more at Dollar Tree.
I'm going to make one for myself and the other other coach as well.

If I have time, I am going to make cute tags for them to tie on with ribbon.  I'll be sure to post, if it happens.

I love how they turned out and I think the girls will like them too!

  2. They're adorable! I love them! And I LOVE the trick about contact paper as vinyl. Will they stay on okay even when the bottle gets water condensation on it (okay, I'm a nerd, that's condensation, right?) Sorry I haven't been commenting - I love your blog!

  5. Thank you! Thank you! :) I love my Cricut! Well worth the money. If you buy one, get SCAL and you will never have to buy cartridges.

Jessica--> I've never had any problems with using the contact paper. I usually use a higher quality kind, but its still much cheaper than vinyl. P.S. I'm a bit of a nerd too :)

  7. We made custom mugs for our youth group. A couple of the leaders went to sign shops and asked for scrap vinyl.. They got PILES... all for free. It stays on even through the dish washer.

  13. This is so cute...I have a question about the SCAL...I am considering getting a cricut but you said if you have SCAL you don't have to buy any cartridges? How does the SCAL work if its not a cartridge - do you connect the cricut to your computer?

  14. Yes, SCAL is a computer program so you hook your computer to your cricut. You might check to see if you can still buy SCAL ... I think I heard that it is no longer for sale because the makers of Cricut are in a lawsuit with the maker of SCAL. (That makes sense though, because since I bought SCAL, I haven't bought a since cartridge.)

  15. A fascinating discussion is worth comment. There's no doubt that that you ought to publish more on this subject, it might not be a taboo matter but usually folks don't discuss such topics.
