I recently discovered the gloriousness of vinyl.
I have a ton of colors and needed a way to get it organized.
I found this wooden crate at Michael's on clearance.
My first step was to paint it white. I forgot to take a photo of this step.
I added a large black ribbon around the crate.
Then, I created a label by layering some paper and then adding
the word "vinyl" in white vinyl using my Cricut.
(Of course, I had to use vinyl.)

I'm trying to keep my scrapbook organization/decor in black and white.
I love how it looks with all the bright colors of vinyl.

ReplyDeleteSo where do you purchase all of your vinyl? I got a cricut for Christmas, but I realize that Wal-Mart isn't the cheapest route for Vinyl. I've seen some websites that seem to be pretty cheap, but wondered where the cheapest is to get it. What about your cricut cartridges?
Kayla: Thanks so much. I buy my vinyl from ebay. There are a lot of sellers who will sell 5-10 rolls at a time at discounted prices. All you do is specify the colors. It is the cheapest place that I have ever found it. I have also been told that many sign shops will give away scrap vinyl for free. (I live in a small rural town, so this isn't an option for me.)
ReplyDeleteDon't buy cricut cartridges unless you are in absoulte love with them. (I have seen cheaper ones on ebay and also on Black Friday sales at Michael's.) Instead, my advice is to buy SCAL (Sure Cuts A Lot). It's a programs you download to your computer and hook it up to your Cricut. With SCAL you can use all the fonts on your computer as well as tons of fonts you can find for free online. You can also cut any image that are SVG (just do a google search). There are tons of free SVGs out there and others are available for only a couple dollars. I just use the free one. AND, you can save images to your computer and "trace" them and your cricut will cut out those too! (I just purchased mine a few months ago, and don't know all the features yet. There isn't a info guide with it, just a help feature...so it takes time to learn.)
The ONLY thing that may be a downfall about SCAL is that it voids the warranty on your machine. My warranty was only 1 year and it has expired, so buying SCAL didn't affect me in any way. Let me know if you have any more questions about it, I would love to help in any way that I can. :)
